If you don't know how to speed up application, go "roarrrrrr!", hit the compiler with the club and use -O3 :D

I wish him the best, but I thinks there's been a falloff of interest in game development, at least the social part. There are more indies than ever.
Currently using Blender and Unity.

I don't understand...if there are more indies than ever, how is that a falloff of interest?

This brings me to one question (a bit OT) - but when will or even whether will DevMaster.net have back Image of the Day? (I know I'm like zillionth man to ask  )

I think, because of the commercial aspect of it. I'm not sure, really. The Flipcode days were just a bunch of people having fun programming and experimenting, or maybe it's all this Facebook stuff, or the more diverse programming choices, but I think he wants to go back in time and you can't do that.

Wow, I just found an old IOTD of mine still on Flipcode.

Fireside, I can assure you that, at least for myself, I still have fun programming and experimenting :D

when realtime pathtracing finally comes in, thatll boost a bit of interest again i bet.
you used to be able to fit a game on a disk, then you used to be able to fit a game on a cd, then you used to be able to fit a game on a dvd, now you can barely fit one on your harddrive.
