Perhaps it depends what your in the industry for, do you feel that it is important to have a website to showcase your games, or to give your games more authority?

sure, when you release a game, make a website for it, for sure.
you used to be able to fit a game on a disk, then you used to be able to fit a game on a cd, then you used to be able to fit a game on a dvd, now you can barely fit one on your harddrive.
