Hey there, the question is what game engine is the best to create a moba style game? Our budget is 350-450k $, our team currently has 6 members and is looking too purchase a great game engine and hire a team of developers. Thanks for the answers.

You have a $350-450K budget and you're asking a "which engine" question on an Internet forum? Seriously? If you really have that kind of money, hire a senior programmer and let them decide which engine.

Good answer, but I am sure I could get an answer from a senior programmer on this forum :).

There is no perfect Engine. There are many game engine that you can take a look, such as Esenthel, Unity3D, UDK, CryEngine, Havok Vision, Source and many other. However all come with their own pros and cons, do its up to you and your team to have a feel which engine that suit them the best. But if you feel none of the engine suit, and if you have the money to spend, of coz can hire engine developer and develop your own engine and tools. Developing your own engine also give you the flexibility but of coz it also means you need to spend more time on developing the engine as well as your game, where as if you licensed it from others, you can focus on making the game instead. So up to you mate

Even if there was an ideal engine for your project, we would need a hell of a lot more information from you before we could give you any valid advice.

What target platforms do you want to support?
Multiplayer-single player
Size of game
Breakdown of team
Timescales
.......

just a few questions we would need answers to.

I have never found that using an engine works for me. I always end up sitting in a corner yelling "but I want to do it this way" and throwing teddy bears out of windows.

Take a look at the Hero engine. That money will run out in a hurry, so it's better to pay more or less rent for a complete package. I feel sorry for who put up that money for a group that hasn't hired developers yet. If you want to come up with your own servers then maybe Essenthel.
Currently using Blender and Unity.

Basically hire skilled programmers, they can help you decide. Asking on internet forum without huge info about what game should do, how it should work, etc. is just waste of time.

And if you write here the whole design document, it's basically just waste of time. There are people who would suggest you using some complete solution, some suggesting open source solution + modifications and some (like me) suggesting doing it from scratch ... and yes our company do most things from scratch - we have pretty good reasons for it.

So basically it depends on people who you're gonna hire.
My blog about game development (and not just game development) - http://gameprogramme...y.blogspot.com/

If you don't know how to speed up application, go "roarrrrrr!", hit the compiler with the club and use -O3 :D

Very True and I agreed with the above statement. All depends on your team or the people you going to hire
