heres a doom map with unique displacement mapping and texturing (3 days work).... I havent got so far yet apart from the small little detail in the centre, but im wondering what the hell this little beast is gonna look like once I take it to the finish.

More screenshots coming up as I slowly progress painting on it and planting csg shapes into the displacement maps!
Why green? I guess its my favorite colour for a transformer -
you used to be able to fit a game on a disk, then you used to be able to fit a game on a cd, then you used to be able to fit a game on a dvd, now you can barely fit one on your harddrive.

ok, so now ive got to the point where ive had enough of painting and sculpting uniquely... :P it just takes too long. So now im going to see if I can get some preprepared displacement maps and textures and apply them in large hits... all you really need is a doom level with displacement mapping, it about finishes off the geometry/detail problem.

ok, so spending time on a smaller area gets you better results, im planning on plotting this wall all over it, see how I go, give me a couple of days tho. :)

Looks cool. Your technique seems more suitable for organic shapes, though. Any chance of an alien hive infestation in that space station?

thanks! :)
totally, exactly what I think! it would great for some infested space station, be it daemons or aliens.
Im improving res now, I just finished looking at RAGE (totally mind blowing...), and mine just looks so low res compared to it, I must fix it.

I updated the resolution, which means going backwards in development and recoding a lot of things... the level is taking a minute to load now tho : P... ok, now im onto plotting premade displacement maps! BACK TO WORK!

to rouncer, if you do not finish projects. try simplifying it down to most basic level. so its easy and possibly enjoyable to do
