I've done a lot of 2D things with Allegro and I'd like to start trying out 3D programming.

The problem is; for the past 3 days, I have been deciding between engines and I cannot decide

I've looked at Cafu, Irrlicht, OGRE(seems a bit hard), Panda3D, and many others but I can not honestly tell which I need.

Again, I'm not making anything serious (I have a friend who is making models for it though) It's more of a learning experience for me.

Oh, and I program in C++ only. So anything that's not supportive of C++ is off the list.

EDIT: Before anyone says "Use the search function" Trust me, I have. Anyways what good is it? That's based on what the OP of those topics want, not what I want.

Why not just use direct x or opengl by itself, thats the way I do it. Do engines really make it any easier?
you used to be able to fit a game on a disk, then you used to be able to fit a game on a cd, then you used to be able to fit a game on a dvd, now you can barely fit one on your harddrive.

Yes.
Hyperbole is, like, the absolute best, most wonderful thing ever! However, you'd be an idiot to not think dogmatism is always bad.

What is unique about your needs then? What makes your needs so specialized that any of the above engines won't do?
