I'm trying to find a way for the code window to show the line numbers, but I'm not finding anything obvious - is there a way to do this? I know you can observe the line number on the status bar at the bottom, but my preference would be to have it right there on the page.

Tools -> Options -> Text Editor -> All Languages -> check the "Line numbers" check box. This is VS 2010, but should be same or close to VS 2008.
