Description
Bin City is a 3D platform game I've been working on for about 9 months and I thought I could show it to you.
It is my first 3D project and actually the first game I ever finished. It is written in C++ and DirectX 9. I didn't make any use of shaders, my goal was to create a finished game and not to spend too much time on complex effects.

As you might see I prefer programming to drawing and I've never drawn in 3D before, but it was a good experience to get into some modelling.

Sounds and music are NOT recorded/composed by me (the music is from Rayman).
I would have liked to make the music myself but I didn't have enough time.

Unfortunately the game hasn't been tested on more than a few systems, so let me know if problems occur.

Download it here

I hope you like it! And let me know what you think about the game.

Wow, for your first 3D project this is absolutely amazing! You can be really proud! I would love to see the character movement more indirect/interpolated. Keep it up!

I think it looks great!

And no, I couldn't see that you prefer programming to drawing, as your modelling and texturing skills are actually quite decent.

good on you for getting so far! game creation is tough.
you used to be able to fit a game on a disk, then you used to be able to fit a game on a cd, then you used to be able to fit a game on a dvd, now you can barely fit one on your harddrive.

Dominic,
Very cool man. Really impressive for a solo project, especially at your age. I didn't play all the way through yet, but it seems stable, no bugs. Did you build your game around an engine? If so, what engine? Did you made all the art yourself, because it really isn't bad. I like the cartoon style of the buildings, and the character looks good to. The only thing that was annoying sometimes was not being able to control the camera.

Keep up the good work!

Pretty nice. I think breaking it up into smaller areas and using keys would have made it a little more interesting. Also, a little more jump control, such as ricochet off walls and movement in air would have helped, and more dangerous areas to cross. Excellent for that amount of time and that you did it alone. Like TheNut said, a more unique avatar would also have been a better choice.
Currently using Blender and Unity.

Thanks for the nice comments!

No I didn't use an engine and yes I made all the art myself. Yes you're right the avatar doesn't look very unique, I too know someone who looks like him (not on purpose).
And for all who play it: alt some places it is too difficult, I didn't have enough time to let it get tested by some people because I had to hand it in.....

@domok,
i'm curious then, did you use physics libraries, or other libraries in you project, or roll you own?

The only library I used is the ogg vorbis library. There isn't much physics in the game just collision detection. That wasn't too hard to do from scratch.
