I like the open policy of DevMaster, i feel there is a much less relaxed atmosphere here rather than GameDev.
I think that all the ides been posted until now are great , what i would like to see is a kind of market for exchanging everything from code to models to articles to sound effect , it is debatle right at this moment if this siervice would be on a pay per view basis or something else, but a market with 'student prices' would be a nice thing i always wanted to visit such place( not that i am a student anymore but... ).
Another thing is to rate the posts , not the users, most valuable posts and answers would be rated with an higher value, so if you are going to search for something , you would be prompted with the most high rated answers based on the topic of your search.
From the graphic side, a new skin and logo is mandatory , an engine database with small screenshot on side would be nice too.

There should be a logo design contest. Why don't put it here on the forums.

I think it would be nice to have a section showing 'recent game engine updates' similar to recent forum posts. I would also like a better, more integrated chat room. Perhaps something similar to the one at http://www.badaforums.net/forums/ or http://www.flashgame...se.com/chat.php.

I agree. Rating users quickly becomes some sort of dumb status thing. Rating posts actually has some use.
I agree the rating should be to posts, but the users that made the high-rated post should get some form of reward to encourage the user to do more of such posts, and to encourage others from doing something similar?

I don't see the point of rating posts *or* users on a discussion site like DevMaster. It makes sense on a site designed for Q&A, like stackoverflow, but DevMaster is more suited for discussions.
Some things that would be useful IMO:
- Make it easier to sign up (stackoverflow did this right)
- A reskin would be good; atm devmaster just looks like yet another vBulletin site.
- More emphasis on feature articles

It hurts my eyes, or it's hard to find stuff, or some other reason is generally why.
Everything I can see fine and simple on DevMaster! I know where everything is as is anyways. :cool2:

I love the blue skin... I quit using some forums because they change it.

There's no need to make it not blue, or change the layout. Just needs something that sets it apart from all the other vBulletin forums out there (in my opinion).

Part of our revamp plans will include a completely new theme for the site, including the forums. We're actually going to hire a professional graphic designer to do this.

A new layout, would be great , new forum, job postings, new articles , a software repository where someone might download small demos or applications.
Check my code in the c/c++ section :

Definitely the repository would be neat.
you used to be able to fit a game on a disk, then you used to be able to fit a game on a cd, then you used to be able to fit a game on a dvd, now you can barely fit one on your harddrive.
