Description
The image shows how the human eye doesn't always show the reality. The object casting a shadow in the image shows as if the shadow itself has a different shade of grey than the grey outside the shadow; however, in reality they are the same exact shade of grey. To prove this to yourself, copy the image to any paint program and then cut the two squares marked A and B. If you align the two sqaures beside each other you will notice that they are exactly the same color. Enjoy!

I've seen this one before, and this truly is one of the most effective ones I have ever seen.

To be quite honest, I had to open it in photoshop and check the rgb values just to make sure I wasn't dreaming =)

optical illusions are fun but why is this a "dev shapshot?" this could have been posted in the lounge :)
anyway... the thing itself is interesting

Hm first thing I noticed is that it's an orthagonal projection. Why is there no real perspective?

It seems to not have been made with a 3d renderer. It looks like it was made with simple 2d shapes and gradient shading. This allows for them to ensure that colors are the exact shade they want them.

I don't understand - why aren't there more snapshots?
The same 5 or 6 have been doing the rounds for about a month now.

there are currently 8 snapshots in the archives. The only way to get more is for more people to submit more snapshots.

Submit one yourself. Right now. Doesn't matter what you're working on, we want to see it. :tongue: Oh and tell you closest friends to do the same...

By the way, it's online now for just a few weeks. Considering that I think it's not doing badly...

knackered3, it's pretty stupid to say there's not enough snapshots when you know for a fact that it depends on user submissions.
Why ask for more, when you yourself can't contribute anything. Can't you for once say something positive?

Let's not gang up on people :).

My dev snapshots are single color renderings of walls and non-billboarded particle systems ;). I've seen this before in some other places, but this one is the most convincing. If it's not 3D rendered, then I commend you on your art skills :).
