I could not find when I looked for the "Delete Self" button.

Dont delete yourself, I STILL NEED YOU!
you used to be able to fit a game on a disk, then you used to be able to fit a game on a cd, then you used to be able to fit a game on a dvd, now you can barely fit one on your harddrive.

I think you've signed on for good. Thousands of years from now your profile will remain. Some poor unsuspecting person may even find it and send you a pm in his/her delusion. That's the beauty of this digital age. Nothing is ever forgotten. It just goes on a page further down.

yea I don't know why forums do not have delete buttons. I guess 50yrs from now I can read my monumental historical moments in the Internets history.

No, seriously. I think if you speak in public, i.e. with spectators, than it is unnatural to disallow people making transcriptions of your speech, i.e. when you speak publicly, and later regret something and cannot delete anymore, then I'd say this is tough luck. Be more careful next time, or just be a tad more anonymous.

I suppose.... I assume that the data retention was in the fine print of the privacy accept button when I first signed on. Anyways doesn't matter for me I just wanted to find out if its possible to delete profiles that I haven't used for years.

Actually deleting data is usually not something you want to be able to do in a database. What should happen to all the posts and threads you have created, which are linked to your account? The usual practice of 'deleting' yourself is simply erasing all profile data, set the e-mail address to info@devmaster.net and mail yourself a new password.

Yeah, I could delete you (all your posts would remain but simply be labeled "Guest"), but .oisyn's approach sounds better.
