In any case, the little AI I have actually worked on (rather simplistic, for a few different mini-games) turned out to just be well placed intelligent "if" tests and entirely condition based. Any action taken without analyzing parameters or conditions would most likely rotate around some mathematical equation involving random seeds. Of course, I have not done any real research on the topic =)

As for the movies, they're all good entertainment. 2 hours well wasted.

Man kills god.
Man creates AI.
AI kills man.
The only real question is what would the AI create after we are gone;)
[and how would it kill them?]

Seriously though, AI is lagging a bit in relation to graphics in some games. Take, for example, Ground Control II (not to sway your opinion on the game or something though...). Great, great graphics, but the AI and interface is horrible. Micromanagement is the main theme here (and although many RTSers may argue that they like micromanagement, this is a lot worse than you might think...), and I'm completely sure that AI from 5-10 years ago could have easily beat this. I'm shooting at the enemy with my tank and they're sitting there doing absolutely nothing. I think that they should at least respond to fire and help out their friends. That's the basic RTS AI today, but it's doesn't show in GC2.
Well, my opinion anyways.

AI creates BI, BI -> CI ...
i thought that was funny.. then i realised that its actually true
Humans create AI, Artificial Intelligence
AI creates BI, Biological Intelligence (as they killed it, they wanna create an own one now)
BI creates CI, Computing Intelligence (as the lifeforms killed all AI, they create it from new, now, too..)
i bet after dinosaurs, there was not an ice age, but an age of AI! then we came, and now they will come back!

10 years ago a robot that could find its way around the house would be impossible but now they are here simple cleaning machines that clean the house. Or robots that assist at hospitals ( or at least there are prototypes ).
In about 10 years we will be looking at the level of a dog or cat in terms of intelligence easy ( maby even terminator style inteligence )
Well that's at least what i think about it.
