maybe we can add some sort of color scheme themes to the site to prevent anyone from getting eye cancer ?
If Prolog is the answer, what is the question ?

The white background isn't nice - especially when it's 2:30 am
and you are reading the forum... it's just too bright

Well, late at night, I tend to lower luminosity by a good 50% =)
Sure helps me out, since otherwise my eyes get all teary and sore.

well remember that the world does not have the same date-time all over the place.
So morning here might well be evening at your place.
I dont think that timeofday color sceming will work due to that.
And it is just a gimic if u want other colors u change them on your PC com-on we are all programmer here we can do it :)

I'd imagine most people will have set the local time in their profile.

However, I think anubis was joking - about time-related schemes anyway.

Wrong dont put on lights when they are not needed.
The ambient lighting in the room should be lower then the light radiated from the screen. This is exactly different from reading from paper but well that is the way it works.

BTW im doing this for 10 years at least and i still have perfect vision :)

i have more ambient than screen-light, and it's a good thing. with tft's, it's actually quite normal that way.

I'm led to believe that there actually isn't much evidence linking reading / looking at monitors with poor eyesight.

Well, unless you're like me and were running your Amiga monitor in interlaced mode for 3 years :) Killed my eyes, that did :P Thankfully a few years of wearing glasses fixed the problem and now I no longer need them :)

Also, check out the theme switcher on NeHe. Perhaps something like that could be implemented on devmaster.

i prefer the time based approach. we could extend it to a local weather based one, and the seasons, and special days.

hm, then again, this should be a core feature of every os...

taskbar covered by the falling snow in the winter....

hm....
