Anubis and I were just talking about some ideas for devmaster, and we came up with this one out of Ed Mack's idea of a featured developer.

What we thought would be to have a featured project. On some arbritary timescale - per week, per two weeks, whatever, we'd pick an interesting project of whatever type. Then we'd write up a mini article about it. It would have a short blurb about the person who made the project, then a description of the project and some information about it. Perhaps a short interview with the person who wrote the project (depending on whether they're a member of the forum, or are easy to get at) :). Obviously we'd need someone who'd be responsible for doing this, but I'm sure we'd find someone happy to do that.

If we ever didn't have a project to feature, we can cycle round old ones so that people who missed them can see them. We could also have a simple indexing so that you could look up people's past projects, perhaps from their profile?

So, what do you guys think?

make it so that there are three paragraphs for each project :
- one with info about the author (static)
- one with info about the currently viewed project, with interview and whatnot
- the last one should give easy access to that guys other projects should there be any
If Prolog is the answer, what is the question ?

It needs to be submitted by the programmers instead of chosen. This is because no one knows about my projects until I announce it. I assume the same is true for most others. This was kinda the purpose of the IOTD back at flipcode and it worked pretty well.

How the projects get chosen isn't so much of an issue. It doesn't matter whether whoever is in charge goes out and finds a project, or gets it sent to him by the writer of the project.

NOTE: I don't have in mind a simple project-plug. The project would have to be interesting or special in some way, to merit being featured. Not just another planned MMORPGFPSRTS.

Right, I was just worried that you would be out looking for projects to feature, and this would be pretty difficult considering the lack of advertizing that we use.
