To all the "n00bs" looking to get into game development, often the advice is to learn the fundamentals, prefereably in a class setting since this tends to force and focus the mind on the matter.
I didn't know why I didn't think of MIT's Open Courseware until now:
Mathematics
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
There's everything from linear algebra, to graphics, to algorithms out the wazoo, to artificial intelligence and more.
Personally, I am actually going to use some of the courseware myself. Game Theory and Mechanism Design looks mighty interesting.
