Input system for gamepads/joysticks

Hi I was wondering if you know of a C++ gamepad input lib, that can be used with if/then statements inside of the main loop, without having to write a special event receiver for it?. I can't use direct input or SDL, because SDL is impossible to setup and does'nt work with my IDE I need something that will work easily with code::blocks IDE and mingw compiler.

I've googled alot and I keep trying the tutorials I find, with no luck, I also use irrlicht and I think the two of them might be conflicting.
Lightspeed compilers are to slow...we need LUDICROUS SPEED!!!
