hey whats up ... i seen ppl asking for help on a mmorpg text based game
i created a game and i know php codes and mysql ... i got 2 games .. 1 fully open and 1 in its beta ..
my open game is newwar.isgreat.org
my beta is a clone working of like a Mafia wars or mobsters from myspace/facebook ..
if u need help i can help u out .. i can also make a sample game

this game is like an outwar or a outcraft text base .. u grow by gettin items from the world where theres mobs u can attack or even raid
u can make a crew and raid bosses for better items u can even upgrade the crew items to do more damage

they are ok server site runs fast as of now... cpu .. i do not know

There are other options, you could leave your home computer on running the server. Use a free account from http://www.dyndns.com/ if you don't have a static IP.
You could use Amazon's EC2 http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/ or Google App Engine http://code.google.com/appengine/
