wich would result in both sitting in front of pc all the time anyways.. wich is bad. i prefer to have one taking me away from it, rather than supporting it. there's too much RealLife going on..

True, but it is hard being so close to someone who cant even begin to understand your passion.

dunny.. my gf's all understood partially my passion. they don't need to understand programming for this. they had own passions, own ways they loved to be creative, and create something. now thats my way to do something..

and they where impressed by the fact that, no clue how, the stuff worked. for them, pc is something magic, so i had to know something special to get it to do what i want.

just as i was impressed to see their work...

well.. haven't impressed a girl for a long time now.. but thats a whole different story :D

oh, and, my first love.. some years back, wants to start coding by herself. she just doesn't have enough time (as she knows, from me, that it takes much time).

The girlfriends I have had were not so understanding. They would just get frustrated with me not being able to comprehend how I could possibly enjoy it. They never did understand just how much work it was either and never appreciated anything that had time and care put into it that was related to programming. I had one girl who wrote poetry. I would love to hear each revision of her works. The first versions were not very pretty usually, but all of them let me know a little more about her. She couldn't be bothered to sit more than a minute or so to see the results of something I had made. She wouldn't bother at all to see something that was not completely finished yet.

They shouldn't, but little things like that hurt. You have been a lucky man dave. Perhaps I should move out by you; they do say that the Swiss Alps are a great place for skiing.

dave : my first girlfriend wanted to learn programming, too. simply to know what fascinates me about it. she didn't do it for long though because it bored her but she tried to understand and was interested in what i did.

nomad : that's bad to hear. i was always relatively lucky with my girlfriends in that respect

It would not have been impolite if she was young enough to answer. A girl only 16 years old might have the intelligence to set up a website, but maybe lack enough experience that I should explain our positions a little more.

Maby a stupid male question but why is there a need for a website specialy for girls. Maby u can have some forums on this site so u can mingle with the male popluation of gamers and programmers. That might give new light to all discussions since they then are from both sexes.

But then this could solve the mistery of where are all the girls posts :)

O and BTW it might help since there are a lof of small hobby projects going on that u might get some more "girlish" games out there, not meant offensive of course.

i wonder why some males always get confused when women do something alone and without the involvement of men :) maybe women talk in a another way about things than man do. if you opened a thread called "what do you think about game XY" you'd probably find a lot of males posting about the big boobs of the main character while the few female voices drown (i think you see where this is leading :))

"that's a really sad thing... but you are right. i see it in my courses as well. at the beginning of first term we had 400 students now 50% are left and many of them still have no clue about computer science
"

Wait till you graduate, enter the workforce and realize that there is only one or two people from each class that can do more than cubicle-rat jobs, due to the university training you to work for the 'industry'[aka. The Machine].

maybe in america... in german univeristies projects tend to be independant of the industry or the military. what i do after university is up to me and i doubt that i will enter any corporation. maybe freelance journalism... i don't know today but you bet that i won't sacrifice my life to "the industry". i'd rather go back to live on the street :)

It's worse to get denied sex because she thinks you use the computer too much. Chicks already pm more than talk but if she was a programmer she would have something else to do while on the computer.

Well it can get even worst. Being denied sex because u downloaded so much that the connection lagged and she had a bad connection. Be carefull what u wish for if they start using the PC a lot and they want an internet connection then u might get into fights over the bandwidth :P
