Bullet is an open source physics engine featuring 3D collision detection, soft body dynamics, and rigid body dynamics. It is used in games, and in visual effects in movies. The Bullet physics library is published under the zlib license. Erwin Coumans, its main author, worked for Sony Computer Entertainment US R&D from 2003 until 2010.
Bullet's mission statement: we are committed to: (1) Supporting open standards in real-time physics simulation. (2) Making the high performance cross-platform Bullet Physics SDK widely adapted by game and movie studios, as open source alternative to proprietary implementations. (3) Sharing knowledge and experience amongst self-sufficient physics developers and enthusiasts.
