Beta Rocks
The beta demo was great. DTAGames has a great start at a game development system, & I can not wait to see the public release in December. 3DCW is easy to learn and use. It can import most model formats and you can click to creat levels for games. DTAGames cliam they will have pre written code for you, in the near future! This is sure to be a BIG hit in the game development area.
I think EVERYONE should give 3DCW a try. You will not be disappointed! Worth EVERY Penny!
game development system - under development
3D CakeWalk aims to be a complete game creation system.
It includes: an easy to use click-and-drag, a 3D editor, a 3D engine (uses the modern Irrlicht engine), scripting, sound and multiplayer system.
It will natively support many standard 3D formats.
It uses octree hence it can represent or import complex scenes and models very easily.
The system is under development, a beta should be available in December.
The distinctive feature is intended to be simplicity combined with stability and portability: the system is planned to be multiplatform (Windows/Linux, later on Mac and Xbox).
A very promising system !
3DCW Good Deal
I would like to start off by saying this is a great tool, worth every penny. My team and I had the privilege of beta testing 3DCW and it was an experience. It is relatively easy to use, and very powerful.
We have not tested the editor under the Irrlicht engine but look forward to it. This will be a great engine and I am sure this will be a great tool for the armature and the pro's.
